Two Upcoming Events to Add to Your Calendar

Colorado River Refuge

On Tuesday, April 22 (Earth Day!), from 4:00-6:00 P.M., PPLT will celebrate the official opening of our Colorado River Refuge. Please join us there.

Directions: From TX 71, east of the commercial part of Bastrop, turn onto Tahitian Drive. Drive 2.2 miles until Tahitian Drive dead-ends at Riverside Drive. Turn right onto Riverside Drive, and drive another 2.2 miles to the Colorado River Refuge. Someone will direct you to parking

Yegua Knobbs Preserve

On Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M., PPLT will host our Annual Spring Field Day at Yegua Knobbs Preserve. Put on your walking shoes, bring your camera and binoculars and plan to enjoy a day of hiking and exploring. Or, bring a lawn chair, a picnic and beverages and just enjoy being away from noise and business for an afternoon of relaxation in lovely surroundings. If you want to explore the bog and see the springs and the pond they create, you’ll have to be prepared to wade through water 4 - 8 inches deep in some places.

Directions: From US 290 in McDade, eight miles southeast of Elgin, turn onto Loop 223, which is Waco St. You’ll pass the Post Office and come to a stop sign at the main street of downtown McDade. Go straight on Waco, which becomes Knobbs Springs Rd. when it turns left out of town. From the stop sign it is five miles to Private Rd. 3051. Just before you come to the turn off onto PR 3051 you’ll see a large red brick house on the left. Drive slowly along the gravel road for about 1.5 miles, at which point you’ll go straight as the road curves around to the left. A sign will point the way to YKP, another .5 mile to the gate.
